Did you know that one of the largest religious identities expressed in Canada is the “spiritual but not religious” category? As many of us move away from traditional religious institutions, or enter into interfaith families, we may not have access to support for important rites of passage or life transitions in the same way. Studies have shown the importance of ceremonies for emotional and psychological integration and well-being. As much as for your wedding, it is important to take time to acknowledge and mark other important life events. It’s an opportunity to be mindful, thankful, or an excuse to have a good party! Ceremony can be light and fun, deeply spiritual – or both. I have worked as a ceremonialist and ritualist in a wide range of non-traditional and spiritual settings, and would love to work with you to mark important life transitions, such as:
- Belly blessing during pregnancy (a nice addition to your baby shower)
- Baby blessings or naming ceremonies
- Parenting/adoption ceremonies
- Non legal commitment ceremonies for romantic relationships
- Marriage or relationship dissolution ceremonies
- Menarche or menopause ceremonies
- Anything else important to you!
